It can be very frightening to have a child/ student who engages in NSSI, and adults can often have reactions that don’t really help. This session will focus on the types of NSSI, the reasoning behind the behaviour, and some ideas about how parents and teachers can help. In a series of studies conducted at the University of Calgary and Alberta Children's Hospital we asked: how does the brain respond to restricted interests?
