The foundations for healthy brain development are laid during pregnancy and infancy, and after birth external environmental factors constantly influence how a child interacts with and learns from the world around them. This presentation will discuss our current understanding of healthy brain development during childhood and adolescence, and highlight how the interplay between protective factors (diverse support networks, good nutrition) and risk factors (maternal and child stress, substance use) can influence brain development and how a child thinks, learns, and acts.

RECORDED SESSIONS

The following are prerecorded sessions and are presented in the
Windows Media Video (WMV) format or MP4.
Click on titles for poster

Laugh Until it Helps: Building Resilience through Humour and Laughter

In helping children be more resilient, the goal is not to deny the reality of their struggles but rather to recognize areas of special need & help them gain insight into their talents and inner strengths.
